WHAT TO EXPECT, INSURANCE, FEES & MORE ON EFT

What will my first session look like?

Currently, our available appointment times are limited to evenings and weekends.

Your first therapy session will enCOmpass several elements.

To begin, we will dedicate time to getting acquainted with each other. We will inquire about any specific COncerns you may have, the difficulties you are currently enCOuntering, and your desired therapy goals, and gain a general understanding of your journey.

We will also discuss various policies and procedures to ensure that we are both on the same page and in alignment. This will provide you with an opportunity to ask any questions you may have and seek clarification on any aspects of the therapy process.

How much will therapy COst?

Therapy COsts can vary by provider. Our cost is $150-$250 per session. Each session is approx. 50 minutes long. Rates vary for individual, family, and CUPles™ therapy. Here’s an overview of how insurance and fees are managed:

  • We are a healthcare provider affiliated with Aetna, Cigna, MHN, United HealthCare, Oscar Health, Blue Shield of California, Anthem Blue Cross California, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Oxford, and Optum. For all other insurance plans, we are considered an out-of-network provider, which means you will need to make direct payments to our practice.
  •  This does not automatically imply that your insurance won’t cover any part of our services. It simply means you must handle any reimbursement negotiations with your insurance provider. To assist you in this process, we are more than willing to supply you with an invoice or “superbill” containing all the necessary details and information.
  • We offer a sliding fee scale for those with financial needs, though these spots are limited in number. We are open to chatting about alternate payment options and referrals for financial support through Therapy for Black Women and Therapy For Black Men during our initial COnsultation.

How long will therapy take?

Each individual’s therapy journey is unique and unfolds in various ways. It can differ in appearance, sound, sensation, scent, and even taste. The duration of therapy can vary greatly, spanning from a few sessions to several months, years, or even longer. The length of therapy is largely influenced by the specific issues you wish to address, your therapy goals, and the pace at which you make progress.

We will work together to determine the most suitable timeline for your therapy journey. It is important that you never feel disempowered or as if the decision is beyond your COntrol. COllaboration is key in ensuring that you have an active role in shaping the timeline that works best for you.

Each individual, family, and CUPles™ therapy session is 50 minutes in length. There is also an option for 90-minute sessions. I typically recommend starting with bi-monthly sessions, with adjustments to that schedule as appropriate.

Is therapy right for me, my partner or my family?

If you find yourself pondering whether therapy is suitable for you, your partner, or your family, chances are it could be beneficial!

If you’re experiencing feelings of sadness, depression, emotional pain, anxiety, loneliness, disconnection from yourself, your partner, or your family, or if you’re navigating life with a fluctuation of intense emotions, it is entirely reasonable to consider embarking on a healing journey through therapy.
